About 100 red-shirt people from Lopburi will join the anti-government rally at Khao Yai Thiang in Nakhon Ratchasima’s Pak Chong district on Monday, group leader Pol Col Chukiat Duangchana said on Friday.
“We will gather at Dong Sawong temple in Muang district and will move to Khao Yai Thiang at about 7am on Monday by a bus and another 10 pickup trucks”, Pol Col Chukait said.
Whether or not Lopburi red-shirts will stay in Pak Chong more than one day depends on the situation, he added.
The group leader insisted that the red-shirt will abide by the law, will not trespass land of people and will not encroach on forest reserve.
Pol Col Chukiat stated his group members just want to flex muscle to show the international community that the government has double standards on law enforcement.
“If the demonstration prolongs, I will bring more red-shirt people from Lopburi, particularly those who are police and military officers to join force with the red-shirts from other provinces”, he said.
The pro-Thaksin United front for Democracy against Dictatorship (UDD) is planning a rally at the country home of privy councilor Surayud Chulanont on Khoa Yai Thiang on Monday.
UDD has accused Gen Surayud, a former prime minister, of encroaching on the forest reserve and the government of turning a blind eye to the infringement.
Attorney General Chulsingha Wasansingha said his office will hold a press conference to clarify why case of Gen Surayud was dropped at about 1pm today. He insisted it is not for stopping the planned rally on Monday by red-shirts but for creating better understanding among the public.
However, Natthawut Saikua, a core leader of UDD, insisted that his group will go ahead with the planned mass rally as the Attorney General Office decided too late to give the explanation.
